The Wall Street Journal had an interesting report about the phenomenon of stand-up meetings. It sounds a little counter-intuitive to make people stand throughout a meeting, but I can promise you after having been to a few that it keeps things short and sweet! I liked the idea of reporting on what you’ve done since the last meeting, what you’re doing today, and obstacles or dependencies to meeting your next deadline. We’ve all been to meetings where you think, “Didn’t you say exactly the same thing the last three times we got together?!”
I have yet to attend a meeting where a rubber chicken gets thrown around to decide who will speak next, but I guess you do what you have to to get through the agenda.
Give it a try – I promise you it falls into “doing what works“. Enjoy!
