We’re only one week in, but June is moving like a horse out of an open gate. We’ve met Caitlyn Jenner and there are Kardashian and Duggar family headlines everywhere you turn. How about taking a step back from the media madness with some Summer reading?
We’re spoiled in Seattle with one of the best library systems in the country. It may be why I took note of the NPR story featuring Nancy Pearl, former Deputy Director of the Seattle Public Library and all around book guru. She has some stealth picks that you probably won’t find by browsing the Amazon Best Seller page.
Bill Gates was featured in a former Good Find Friday, and I’ve added his 2015 picks to the links. He always has a really electic list (with a dash of nerd thrown in).
Are you trying to encourage your teenager to keep their mind engaged when school lets out? Send them the YA link.
On a personal note, I have to throw in “This Time Together,” the 2010 memoir of actress Carol Burnett. It’s perfect Summer reading – entertaining, easy to pick up or put down at your leisure, and filled with laugh out loud moments. It made my week.
