I watched “Goliath” in a day. I only meant to get started on an episode or two on my all-day flight, but it was…Just. That. Good. By the time I reached my hotel room, I hastily plugged in my Kindle to charge so I could binge the last few episodes before bedtime.
“Goliath” is the edgy story of burned-out superstar trial lawyer, Billy McBride. Billy half-heartedly agrees to help another lawyer with a civil claim, but it becomes apparent that there’s much more at stake than a quick settlement. To unravel the mystery, Billy travels from the gritty underbelly of Los Angeles to the elite clubs of billionaire power brokers.
Billy Bob Thornton won the Golden Globe for “Best Actor in a TV Drama”, but the whole cast is phenomenal. Let me give you the short list: Maria Bello, Tony winner Nina Arianda, Olivia Thirlby, Ever Carradine and Dwight Yoakam. And by the way, William Hurt probably gives his most powerful performance since “A History of Violence.”
If you liked “Ray Donovan” or crime series like “Murder One”, David E. Kelly’s “Goliath” is for you. You can find it on Amazon.
